Yesterday morning at 6am we heard the first croaking sounds of the year coming from the garden pond. It's must be getting warmer. 😊

Or the missus has come down with something.

Don't you just love Springtime, It's not official but the critters don't know that.

Keep looking but so far only a toad has appeared near our pond. (Mind you I like toads so was pleased to spot one.)

We have had  a temporary barrier put across a field entrance near a local large pond to try and stop the frogs crossing every year also got notices on the road warning the traffic, have seen a few think the colder weather is making the frogs go to the pond  later this year.

I was surprised last week to find the frogs in our pond had mated and produced lots of spawn. Not so impressed when the next day, one of the frogs clamped on the eyes my nicest Koi Carp. It took a lot of squirting with the hosepipe to dislodge the blighter.

Since then I have been told of a similar incident where the frog actualy killed a Koi by forcing the eyes in.

Not come across this before, but I suspect the fish was probably eating the spawn.
