Perhaps not the title you expect to read but during our three day stay we had a lot of sunshine. However I should add that apart from the day of arrival, when there were unseasonable high temperatures of 14 degrees, it was fairly cold as to be expected.

We are fortunate in being more or less free agents so we can decide at the last minute when we go away. We thought we should try for a January trip away but it was dependent on the weather. No point sitting on a campsite in terrible weather! This opportunity came right at the end of the month and as I mentioned above we were lucky with the weather.

Ferry Meadows at Peterborough was the very first campsite we ever visited about 37 years ago. It is very convenient from where we live in Milton Keynes. There are similarities between the two as they were either created or expanded as in the case of Peterborough to relieve pressure on London housing. Ferry Meadows is also similar to MK's Willen Lake which is an area of parkland incorporating two large lakes which is also part of the Linear Park that runs through  MK along the Grand Union Canal.

We arrived on the Sunday and as it was such a lovely day we had a quick lunch and set out to have a walk in the Park. It was good to see that we were not alone with many locals making good use of their open spaces. The following day we walked down to the Garden Centre. We resisted the temptation to buy any plants as we would have had to carry them back! Next door is a convenient chain restaurant, the Granary Inn, where we treated ourselves to a meal. Tuesday was our last day on site and it was a choice between getting the bus into the City or another walk around a different part of the Park. We had been into Peterborough many times in the past so the sunshine and fresh air won the day although there was much more of a chill in the wind. On the last day of January we returned home. February beckons!

Thanks David, a nice site, one to enjoy if you are lucky enough to live within easy reach.
