We have recently had a large sky light replaced under warranty, because the outside frame that is in contact with the roof had cracked and was leaking.  The company who did the replacement said they had done lot's of them in the past.  Is this common with all caravans or just long twin axle van's because they may twist more when travelling.

That is probably a Elddis built using "solid".!!!!!!!Problem being lack of expansion room.....design fault......not foreseen by people involved in research of bonding system........in my opinion and without prejudice!

Yes, same with my Compass Omega (2 berth single axle) it went in for it's first service and replacement of a cracked rear panel and other niggles under warranty, dealer then found 30% damp around the skylight, that was replaced and also the roof boarding which was stained, all done under warranty.

We have also been told that our van has no timber at all in the roof, so that allows more twisting and up and down movement when travelling. It also has rails the full length of the van above the awning rails, which looks great and also stop's black streaks down the side of the van, the downside to this is if we pitch the van level and it rain's we have lake of water sitting on the roof because it's unable to run off,  so we have to pitch either front down or back down. We thought the rail's were a good thing when we looked at the van in the show room,  but it had not been tested or thought out in design before production.
