Hello everyone,we started caravanning last year with our Abbey VoGUE 416 GTS and a second hand Kia Sportage(diesel 4wd)Lovely combination several nice trips out pulled well. Now to the sad news,a guy shot out of a side street before Xmas and smashed into front side of car and unfortunately now insurance write off.Now need to replace,I liked Kia and looking for replacement or similar towcar.Do not want to spend lots so could anyone suggest models suitable, want to sort out before season starts

If you liked the Kia why not get another one? I'm a great believer in sticking what you are happy with/

A friend has brought a used Suzuki Vitara diesel and is very pleased with it for towing there van, but there are lot's of good makes for sale at the price you want to pay. The only advice I can give you is never tow with a vehicle to light in weight for your van and don't buy anything to big for your outfit that will cost a lot of money to run. We tow with a Mitsubishi Shogun 3.2 litre but we tow a twin axle heavy van, and only get 20mpg when towing. So go with what you already like because I have never heard of many bad reports about Kia.    Good luck.

We have a Sportage and in 38000miles has so far not put a foot wrong, and a good proportion of the mileage has been towing

Just have a wee think about what you might change your caravan for in the future and don't buy something that would not be able to tow that.

I tow an Abbey 418GTS with a 2011 Honda CRV 2.2 Auto - copes admirably with a bit of 4 wheel drive where needed, more than happy with it. Previously towed the same van with 2008 VW Passat 2.0ltr DTI which was also an excellent towcar - only changed as the mileage was creeping up!
