Tables are allocated prior to the first meal for dinner. Breakfast and lunch are on first come first served.

However, as I've observed, the behaviours of seasoned cruisers are akin to seasoned caravaners. It may be roolz that drive those behaviours, or maybe not wink

As another passenger remarked as we were both shoved aside by a seasoned cruiser whilst happily waiting our turn at the coffee machine 'it starts at home'. Whilst assisting my mum down the gangway, along to the restaurants and shops we were constantly barged out of the way by seasoned cruisers who have no time for those with mobility limitations. Quite an eye opener wink

Then there are those who are too important to remove their belts, wristwatches and go through the security arches on re-embarking at ports of call and verbally abuse the staff who politely ask them to. Its a funny old world wink

Alcohol is extremely expensive this year. Example small white wine 125ml is $13.95 + 15% service charge. Cheapest bottle of wine is $39 + 15% service charge. We take our own on board as you can if embarking at Soton.

Perhaps you should look at P&O. We were on Britannia in 2016 and wine was less than £20 a bottle and no service charge! I can't comment of Cunard ships but we have been well impressed with the two cruises we have had with P&O.

KS, Southampton/NY each way with a trip up the coast to Quebec in between. 29 nights in all, the longest cruise we've ever done. Hope I don't get cabin fever. I noticed that the price of booze had shot up since last year and many were not drinking wine at dinner. Cunard may have shot themselves in the foot as sales drop.

CY, the in laws did that one a few years ago on QV rather than QM2, they thoroughly enjoyed it. Didn't get cabin fever. Teetotal so no alcohol worries.

Lots of people commented on the alcohol price and only 1 bottle of wine was purchased by a couple on our table, until the guy realised the price.  He had just retired as an accountant!!!

We did a NY/Soton on QM2 a few years ago. There is an awful lot to keep you occupied on the trans Atlantic parts, hence QM2 is an ocean liner built for that voyage. As the skipper said when we went to the fjords, 'we are taking her for her summer holiday'.

DK, P&O is part of the same group as Cunard. Apparently their alcohol prices have gone up too. A couple on the last QE cruise in December remarked on that, plus the search and shaming if you took more than 1 bottle each on board when embarking at a US port. They take it off you, publicly shame you and give it back at the final port.

Apparently boxes of wine don't get seen on the scanners.

Have only done Cunard cruises so far.

The exchange rate £to$ in 2016 would make a £20 bottle of wine approx $30.

Our previous QM2 cruise saw one size of wine glass, 250ml at $3.90, so the 2017 prices were exceptionally high combined with smaller volumes.

Friends regularly visit the Caymans, this last year has seen prices rise by 30%, maybe it's a global thing, or Brexit effect!!!

    Hi

2017 for us has been one of our best years working for the club. Having had 47000 holidaymakers visit our site over the season, in all weathers, the atmosphere overall has been brilliant. There has been a strong sense of camaraderie that has been sorely lacking in past years. School holiday weather was rubbish but there was very little moaning, people just got on and enjoyed it. Hopefully that will be a growing trend as the last couple of years have been a bit disheartening.

Holiday highlights, well we've been here in our rv in Spain for eight weeks now and it's been superbly warm. Only three wet days so far.

Only eights weeks to go before we get back to site to start allover again, look forward to it.

    Cheers
