Been thinking about going here in May.  Anyone been and what do you think.  I know it is only 25 pitches and no facilities which is not a problem for us.  Thanks

Never stayed there but the NT Kingston Lacey site in Dorset is immaculate - CL type with 5 hard standing pitches.

Great site, in our opinion. Directly opposite the N/T Gold Mines and has a riverside walk straight from the site.

We pitched on upper part of site - mainly grass but far nicer than the lower area which, after wet weather, seemed dark and dismal.

Looked this up as I did not realise there were any NT cls.  It looks interesting but my husbands says all the cars drive past to get into the car park for the house?  Did you find this a problem?  We have stayed as Houghton Mill before which is next to the car park but did not find you noticed this at all?

Don't have these at home so no problem to me.  I believe there is a pub to walk to so that would be fine for us laughing

A first class quiet site and the access to the property is in the opposite direction so no road noise. Lots of walking and plenty of nature.  Wardens are volunteers.

I haven’t stayed on this site because it has no facilities . But it’s in a stunning area . .

You're missing out a lot by not staying on sites without full facilities, norab. Think Altnaharra, and hundreds of CLs too.

We stayed here a few years ago, it's a lovely place right next to the National Trust old Roman mines (cafe and small shop there too).  It is very wooded so can be a bit dark if wet and satellite dishes are difficult to place if you use them. We saw lots of lovely birds, including red kites on the surrounding hills. Other nice National Trust sites include Ilam Hall in Derbyshire ( house is a youth hostel but they have lovely grounds and it's perfect for Dovedale) and their CL in the back of the car park at Stourhead - beautiful garden, farm shop, toilets open during the day, pub and walks.  Kingston Lacy is very nice too, hardstandings, but no toilets, but a short wa;lk through the gate to the house.

Ilam Nat Trust site now closed permanently. They are extending the car park into the caravan site.

Sadly the site at Ilam Hall has closed. I understand the space will be used to extend the car park and as a fairly frequent visitor who has struggled and sometimes failed to park I have to admit it will be fully used during the season.  Shame though, it was a lovely site.

The lower part of the site is wooded but the upper part is far more open and IMO nicer.

Let alone the Gold Mines, in driving distance you have National Botanic Gardens, Aberglasney(garden lost in time) Talley Abbey, and its lakes. Llandeilo, Llandovery and opposite direction  Lampeter, all stunning welsh market towns. You have the coast at Abeaeron and Aberystwyth. What more do you want.......
