As a satisfied owner of a 2013 Honda CRV 2.2 idtec, I’m thinking of changing to a new one .But Honda produce a 160 ps 1.6 twin turbo diesel.Has anybody any experience using one to tow a 2 berth Coachman. The salesman assure me the updated 4x4 tows well but we all know what salesmen are. I have had 2 CRV’s ,and more than satisfied with both build quality ,towing  and general use.

    I too have a year old " new dream Diesel" 9 speed auto -  replacing my 2011 plate 2.2 l cr-v

I tow an Adria Adiva weighing in at 1489 kg

New one does the job admirably  - mpg towing ( depending on the hill )

    29 /33

I won' t be having any other towcar.

    Go for it !!

    Hi there,

i notice that the replys on this post are a few months old, have either of you had any issues with the 1.6 since?

we currently have a 2010 xtrail 173 manual that has been brilliant (once on top of the dreaded dpf) but with a third child on the way it seems that the crv is the only SUV that can fit 3 child seats in the back without buying a 7 seat bus,

I do quite fancy a crv with the automatic box (as our van is only 1300kg I'm not bothered about the 1500kg limit) but I can't find anything positive about it in other forums or indeed a reviewer that speaks highly of it,

also, does anybody know of the reason why the towing limit drops for the automatic as other cars (rr evoque etc) use the same zf box with no drop in towing limits?

    regards

    Dan
