Hello,

We had a successful trip to Uist, from Gloucestershire, last year, which was helped by experience and advice from this site. Next year we would like to try the Calmac Hopscotch ‘adventure’. I wonder what people’s views are on this. Also, did they start at Ullapool or Oban?

    Hi Carole,

Look up Andrew Ditton on YouTube he has done the Hopscotch. I am sure he started in Ullapool but I could be wrong. He also has loads of videos of the Western Isles.

    Cheers

We used the Calmac Hopscotch Route 23 last year starting at Oban & travelling up the islands & coming back through Skye.

We chopped & changed our itinerary due to an emergency at home but the Calmac staff couldn't have been more helpful. They even refunded the Skye to Mallaig portion that we didn't get to use.

We were delayed a day going from Oban to Barra but they picked up the cost of the extra night on the Oban site & for our fish & chip supper! Can't say fairer than that!

PP, I’ve seen several of your site reviews on UKC and they’re very useful as we’re thinking of doing the Ullapool - Lewis to Barra - Oban route next year. Thanks for that.

Used hopscotch a number of times. Calmac are great. If you cant get on the next ferry to the islands they will fit you on the next available. Only once have we had to wait 24 hrs, between Stornoway & Ullapool.Just had an extra day on the Island.
