Earlier in the year we did a ten day tour which included Clumber Park, Bridlington and Poolsbrook sites. Given that Bridlington was the furthest point from home we stayed at Clumber Park for a couple of days to break the journey. It had been years since we last stayed at Clumber. The onward journey to Bridlington was quite easy and this was a site that was new to us. Although it might not have been the most convenient place we did travel into Hull by train to visit the City of Culture for the first time. We also enjoyed a visit to Sewerby Hall which is a reasonably easy walk from the site. On our way home we stopped at Poolsbrook Country Park for a few days. WE took the bus into Stavely and hunted out the Chesterfield Canal which has had to be diverted because of building on the old route. Because we have a motorhome we try to always find sites that have access to public transport which our last two sites had.

Northumberland is possibly our favourite touring destination. It combines beautiful beaches with wild and desolate moorlands, some very nice towns and villages, and more history and culture than most other places in the U.K. Here you can immerse yourself into Roman Britain, taking in all the museums, forts, settlements, even places of worship! If that isn't enough, then some of the best castles in Britain lie in Northumberland.....Alnwick, Bamburgh, Dunstanburgh, Norham, Chillingham, the list is very long ranging from very ruinous but romantic, to renovated and restored with lovely gardens as well! Best not forget Lindisfarne either, a full day out in itself with Lindisfarne Abbey and the Castle.

Some very nice Club Sites to choose from in Northumberland not least Nunnykirk and River Breamish and Seaview at Berwick on Tweed. We have also used a number of very nice CLs, Brock Mill Farm which is perfect for Holy Island, another one at Gilsland which is great for Hadrian's Wall. In truth, we prefer a mix of CL and small private sites, but at a push, would reuse any of the Club's sites. Old Hartley Club Site is a great starting point for heading West and getting onto Hadrian's Wall. Good access via Metro into Newcastle if visitors would like a bit of retail therapy!laughing

I thought all minor tours were centred at the Palace of Knossos on Crete. wink

This year we did a trip to Cornwall, first two nights Tewkesbury, then to St Ives for three nights, then over to St Austell for one night then Falmouth for 3 nights.

Earlier in the year we did a Wales tour, starting at CMC Chirk, then to Morris Leisure Betsy Coed, then Red Kite Llanidloes finishing at Abermule

All our trips are mini tours we seldom stay on one site for more than 3 nights.

We often spend a week on a CL in Holt, North East Norfolk before switching over to the North West of the county and stay around Sandringham either on the club site or preferably on a CL, then have the last week on the Suffolk coast making a nice triangle without too far to travel between sites.

There are numerous very good CLs based around near Minsmere RSPB reserve, in Snape, Leiston, Knodishall or Thebeton. The coastal areas have excellent walking, birdwatching, historical building visiting places as well as traditional seaside places like Cromer, Hunstanton or Southwold to name but three to keep most family members entertained.
