Plenty will pay £27 a night in July if they want a particular site. I don't want that particular site though

But the booking system has changed, from how it used to be, and for the better ,its just a matter of now trying to satisfying the few and justifying the cost,?undecided

But then look what happened in Feb this year and neither have been justified and that was supposedly for the many? coolundecided

The cost is justified by the fact that folk pay it.

Well I logged in just now and got my BH date in May and in August with no problems at all and from over 1000 miles away.

So it appears that there is plenty of space left at York and Baltic Wharf? Anyone mentioned Chatsworth?Have not had a chance to read everything but has it been a frenzy? Seems more satisfied customers than not.

Do you have a buy it now price???laughing

As you say BB there is plenty of space, York will be full as Beechwood is closed but the rest are still pretty free.  I even looked for Easter a short while ago and there was plenty of space at popular sites, just a few people on here throwing toys out of pram as they did not get what they wanted blaming people booking weekends which meant they could not book their own weekendsundecided

Plenty of availability at Chatsworth on non service pitches except for the weekends when there is something on, for example the Country Fair.  The service pitches even at £5 a night are popular here.  We booked for Easter and it's £40 a night on a service pitch it's very pricey.

Well, no I'm not surprised, but then there have been many posts saying that this is precisely what the club should be doing - increasing prices at places like Chatsworth to dampen over demand! (Not a point of view I subscribe to, incidentally!)

Despite Chatsworth being a HP site I've never yet been and seen it completely full. Even at weekends there can be an odd pitch free which I suspect could be from a no show  After Clumber it's our nearest site and, despite the prices, we go as often as we can. Weekends are generally full although I have never managed not to get a pitch if we decide to go at short notice.  Usually plenty of availability in the week except when there's something on at the house.

We have just come back from three nights at Chatsworth and I reckon it was about 95% full for all three nights. OK the Christmas Market was on which is very popular and they have the House decorated to a theme, again very popular. All our recent visits have been at this time of year so obviously can't comment on other months. BTW, only booked the pitch about 6 weeks before arrival.

Glad we have already "done" Chatsworth, 3 times since 1998, prices are way too much for us now.

Also been to Baltic Wharf, a week about 9 years back, and several times in York, we use Beechwood, so all honeypots crossed off our list.

Hopefully the Cls will have a good year. Look8ng at the prices for some of the club sites. £101 for 3 nights in August at York Rowntree. Too much. Not com0laining because it’s about choice, pay it or don’t. Cl down the road with outdoor pool, lawn tennis and croquet lawn, huge grass pitches. 16 amp electric.  £15 a night all season. On the river. Near park and ride.

After making all the bookings we wanted mid morning with no problems at all just tried to book a few nights including a weekend at Uttoxeter on way home and was somewhat stunned to find weekend already full. Obviously I'll have to redefine what I consider to be honeypot sites!

Try Fieldhead Farm CL just down the road from Uttoxeter. Can thoroughly recommend it! smile

Well said. Some were lucky and some were not. I was never going to have a problem because the most popular sites are not on my radar. I do suspect though that you might have been unfortunate because of the other York site not being available there might have been double the demand for RP. No doubt heightened demand for BW with its likely imminent closure.

    Good on you, FB.

It’s easy to blame others but harder to put your hands up and admit the fault is not with them.

+ another. I wouldnt give up entirely on RP, cancellations do come up, we got into Warwick a couple of days before we wanted to go despite the website showing full. A phone call is often the best option.
