    Our van is also self contained with only food and clothes needed.  We used to camp so carried much of the stuff over when we bought our first van over 25 years ago.  We've upgraded over the years and now have proper saucepans, Corelle crockery and proper (not plastic or melamine) mugs! 

    We never empty it (apart from when it's serviced) and I put everything back straight after.  if ever we decide on a quick break at short notice it's ready to go.

    Ours is the same, except we take out the bedding and all the towels over winter.
