What proof do you have of them going faster than 10 mph???  Do you carry a speed gun/laser wotsit or is it your perception?

My point was that the same people who moan about some one speeding and breaking the rule are probably the same ones who turn up early which in itself breaks a different rule, they are just picky which rules they want to adhere to and which one they do not...

After 42 years of driving - Lorries, Buses,Cars  and large Motorbikes I think I am more than able to recognize that someone is driving way too fast given the environment  and above the set speed limit or more than 10 mph.

As for your second point . How can you form and opinion of someone and judge them when you don't know anything about them or the circumstances at the time.

For the same reason that in your dotage you know how fast someone is driving.  Its purely hypothesis yours based on your perception of speed and mine on speculation.  And how do you know what someones circumstances are for speeding, may be rushing to a medical emergency or something how do you know?  I am not judging so nor should you.

Re read the post, the second point was about early arrivals.

I'm not sure, but at 58 I don't think i'm in my dotage wink

I stayed on plenty of sites like that this year without leaving the UK. Some of them were even club sites.

Having recently returned from Wharfedale ,the first club site I have used this year I have some sympathy with the original post.

I was surprised at the number of people driving too fast past the toilet block even though there is a hill and a speed hump on the approach and also the number of people toileting their dogs on the unused grass pitches after dark.

Just out of interest this subject was mentioned at the AGM, I have copied below the question and response:-

    ITEM 7: ANY OTHER BUSINESS

7.1 The following points arose from the floor:

7.1.1 In response to a comment (Mr Ferdinand) about the ridiculous levels of speeding on Club Sites, including children on bicycles and scooters, the DG advised that the Head of Sites Operations would consider this further, although it was an issue that continued to receive attention.

speed is far superior to my tongue in cheek jibe at early arrivals who are probably the same people who moan about speeding but its one rule for them and one rule for me but you do not seem to be able to grasp that point!!!

If something is intended as tongue in cheek, it is usually wise to show this with an emoticon, or perhaps the phrase just kidding. Otherwise how is anyone supposed to know.

Need to get out more then MM smile

3 incidents in about 1,200 site days and so not too common. However on all three occasions there was a real possibility of injury (and possible a fatality) for the child

Perhaps you should visit Clumber Park on a weekend.

No would not be my first choice either, but very convenient to get the van set up, prior to a Sunday get away.

I would imagine the comments at the AGM may have been prompted by visits to such sites. Last visit observed a lad swerving at high speed round a manovering vehicle. Unfortunately we will probably have to wait for a fatality before the problem is addressed. Anything less and folk just want to ignore it.

Oh the lad did not have a helmet on, so if he and is head had hit the vehicle.

As everyone has had the opportunity to share their views and opinions and the discussion has continued to be heated despite my prior post, I will now close this discussion. I fully appreciate this is a concern for many members and thank you David for sharing the item from the AGM.  I have also forwarded this discussion to the sites operations team for their reference.
