No, we were i thought ,talking about touring without booking, which LA gives a method,  with a bit of thought?,a method of finding space ,without as some want ,advance booking when on a tour

We haven't made any plans for next year yet. But what I can do is to  look ahead on the other club's system and see if places are filling up, particularly in the Lakes. I left it a bit late for Keswick this year and got the last pitch, I can do this now as places will gradually start to book, but not in one mad booking rush.

Does their system show availability then?

I have always thought it a bit of a failing with the CAMC that it does not show pitches left by day, as the information must be available.

That is fine if one is totally flexible. If like me however and wish to stay at specific sites such as Edinburgh, followed by Seaview Berwick on Tweed then Old Hartley at Whitley Bay and onto Bridlington and continue down the East coast for 6 weeks etc using CC sites it is of little use as in my experience Old Hartley and Seaview both tend to fill at a weekend.

The Club shows weekend availability. The C &CC is checked by choosing a pitch type in advance, putting in the details, what is available comes up including the prices with (for us) age reductions etc. They do run a late availability system I believe but I've never looked at it as I just look for pitches at a chosen sites. I can then book a hardstanding, ehu etc.

I thought that's what touring was about you just went where and when to an area ,its what the "over therers"say so the LA gives just that with up to three weeks in advance to go where you want

You tour your way and I'll tour mine JVB wink

Having planned a route I know exactly where I want to be. Not necessarily what is available on chance laughing

There are times, as one gets older, that the balance between 'certainty' and 'adventure' swings in favour of the former.

At my advanced age I don't even look for long sell by dates on yogurt, and certainly wouldn't start planning next summer holidays before Christmas.

Not sure if this is related but yesterday I received an opinion survey from the club regarding booking specific pitch types amongst other things so perhaps they are thinking about HS as a booking option, was also a bit asking if you would be willing to pay a small amount to reserve a HS pitch.

Also it alluded to the no deposits, no penalties aspect of the booking system.

That is interesting. Personally not received the survey myself but something does seem to be afoot? If they are seriously looking at pitch type booking, which I hope they are, I wonder if they will go beyond surface type but also look at awning/non awning pitches as well?

When you say they alluded to no deposits and no penalties was this in a positive way in the sense that it is an advantage to members over the other Club or was it more from the angle of being reviewed?

Yes it was something like below

Are you aware that there are no deposits Yes/No/Not Sure

Are you aware of the no penalty for cancelling within the 72 hours Yes/No/Not Sure

So promoting it as a positive way which i think is great, would like to be able to book HS, Awning/Non Awning not bothered except to get a larger pitch if Awning pitches are larger or in an area of the site we would like to be.

Asked about how many days away in UK, who did you book with C&MC, C&CC, Private Site, Chain etc.
