Purchasing a caravan porch awning

A cautionary tale for those considering purchasing a porch awning. Be sure to read the brochure carefully as I have recently purchased a new Dorema awning and believe the size details given to be misleading. The width and depth sizes described as available are for measurements at the ground level as the awing tapers towards the roof by almost half a metre.

Having not purchased a porch awning previously I was not aware of this, perhaps I should have more carefull in my reading but, a measurement diagram would have been helpful.

It could be said as Dorema have been in business for many years this has doubtless happened many times to customers, and a diagram common sense for beginners. But, once the the goods are out of the box they are 'used' and a refund or exchange impossible, and no good for the companies sale sheet.

Doesn't it fit then? Not sure why tapering in depth or length wise makes any difference 😕 The only critical measurement is from the top awning rail to the ground.

On the Dorema website it quite clearly gives the 'width' across the bottom, and the length of the roof beading for the Quattro - and the difference between the two is the 'taper'. (30 cm)

Height: Designed to fit caravans from 235-255 cm in height
    Size:
    Quattro 225: width 225 x depth 180 cm
    Quattro 275: width 275 x depth 200 cm
    Roof beading:
    Quattro 225: 195 cm
    Quattro 275: 245 cm

For the Safari the details are given:

Height: To fit caravans from 235-255 cm in height
    Size: 320 x 240 cm base measurement
    Depth: 240 cm
Roof measurement: Width approx. 280 cm

    and for the Omega

Height: To fit caravans from 235-255 cm in height
Sizes: Width 340 cm x depth 240 cm
    Roof measurement: Width 300 cm + 2 x 20 cm

Depends what model Dorema porch you have bought if it is the Mistral it has a pronounced slope towards the rear from the front ,a lot of porch or full awnings tend to have a "slope" when pegged out
