The Happy Travellers, who did the Southport Youtube Vlog about picking the wrong pitch, have done it again. This time it is at Chester Fairoaks. See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AViGOFUTmHg

Maybe they should think a bit more about where they are pitching up! wink However in reality some people have no respect of other's privacy.

Do you think that they intend to make a series of videos so will be searching out the pitches most likely to be walked across by other camperswink

It might sound strange but I want to know if anyone squeezed between the gap in the windbreak, a bit of a cliff hanger!

By the looks of it David, they are inveterate bloggers. I just have sufficient time to look through all that they post on Youtube.

We have had them squeeze between caravan and car. The coiple negotiated the wastemaster hazard but one fell foul of an open window before the aquaroll chicane.

I was on that very pitch last year and yes people were tripping over my awning guy lines, usually with an Aquaroll/Wastemaster in tow.  It is  pure laziness and very unnecessary.  I certainly wouldn't do it and I bet when those folks who think its ok choose a pitch the first thing they think about is privacy.

We used that pitch a few years ago, never again.  We don't have an awning so people thinks its ok just to walk past the windows, through the chairs, whatever!!!!  All on their way to the office or the fish and chip van.  I was worn out watching the procession.

To make it interesting just drive a couple of awning pins in and watch who trips over them.

Can't disagree with comments on here but it does occur to me that it would be sensible when laying out a site to include pathways from the area of pitches to facilities block(s) and reception without the need to walk out of your way, sometimes in the wrong direction, to reach such places or through someone's pitch. Most people choose the route of least resistance especially whilst on foot, add in cold or rain and it becomes even more important to be able to reach your intended destination as quickly and economically as possible.

Of course on this case the city through could be stopped by a decent fence or hedge, one that can be stepped over invites you to do so. There is a large area of green after the gravel pitch that could be used to cut down a road walk 😉

First of all I thought ..."Creature Comforts" ... but actually it was quite amusing.

The problem with U.K. sites, and particularly Club sites, is they don't have hedges etc. to mark out the pitches. Quite rare not to have delineated pitches on the continent, even in Italy where the pitches are minuscule. No privacy on Club sites and it doesn't help when people are just ill mannered. As I have said before, as children, camping with our parents, we were taught not to even walk in front of another tent, or if we did we were supposed to apologise for the intrusion. How times have changed.

At around 6 minutes it shows the fence the people have been 'climbing' over. With the best will in the world most people are going to step over this low level fence to get to other parts of the site .... I dare say even the film makers did the same. As long as they kept to the grass,  and not the gravel, I'm not sure any 'rules' have been broken.

I've not watch all the video  .....

agree, Hitch. here at Bonterra, we are in a row of just 3 vans but the spacing (as in CC terms) isnt fomalised...you can park your vehicle any which way on the pitches, which are fairly large at around 12m x 8m.

However, the hedges (around 1.3m high but only 0.5m deep) give total privacy, yet take up little space. far better (IMHO) than the std CC set up...OH not keen on 'open plan' and 'peg' sites, somthis suits well for private breakfast and evening meals outside.

certainly no walking through pitches here.

in actual fact, the site is laid out in a herring bone format, with two 'spines' leading to pitch rows either side (dead ends) so no advantage to be gained anyway...

the toilet blocks are on the 'spines' so, again, no reason to cut through anywhere other than 'your' access road back to the spine for showers and, ultimately, reception...

makes for quiet pitches with almost no intrusion (people or vehicles).

When we were at Bonterra Park earlier in the year, we were at the back of the site.  No 6 meter gap, no hedges, just trees which were cleverly positioned to take the corner of your van out if you weren't too careful. Everyone walked through your pitch as we were so close together.

ah, yes, you were on the 'short term ACSI' area at the top of the site......he erally for those staying two weeks or less, AFAIK.

those staying longer get 'gold' pitches (large fully serviced, hedges etc) and these are in the layout i described, as i guess you knowwink

There is a phantom pitch from 2014 with the same title which has surfaced, causing problems.

As I have mentioned previously it happens when you get two threads with the same name, even if one of the  threads was started several years ago. I can't explain why beyond it being another quirk of the forum. Speaking to Rowena about this she has passed the information onto the IT people to investigate and try and fix. My understanding is that they have to prioritise where they use their resources and I expect the amount of time they can devote to this forum is limited compared to keeping the site booking side and main website running which takes the priority plus of course any HQ systems that probably none of us know anything about?  They have been able to help recently with duplicate threads and duplicate posts so they have not completely ignored us.

Maybe it's just that they've decided to put most of their resources that they would once have used on CT into their infamous FB page!!

I suppose that is possible but I wonder how much actual Club IT resource time Facebook actually takes up as it's a separate system run by another company compared to this and other Club computer operations? Not sure whether the updating and adding to the Facebook page is done by the Media Department or IT? I don't doubt that it is much heavier in terms of staff resources and things get answered there more frequently and quicker than is generally the case with Club Together.
