Can anyone advise please?
I want to buy a TV for the MOHO. I am changing for something a bit lower and smaller which doesn't have one.
I am thninking I will just get a bog standard 12v freeview/DVD one but have seen the Avtec.
Which one, is what I need.
I want it so OH can watch the news and other bits and pieces easily. I know we will not get anything abroad (I don't want wok dishes outside 😬)
Suggestions most welcome please?

Can I also suggest you look at Vision Plus.
We had a very cheap Goodmans TV/DVD 21" in our Coachman. but when we bought the Elddis the dealer gave us a Vision Plus 18.5" to replace the missing factory fitted Avtex one.
I can't express enough how much better it is than our old Goodmas for picture quality. especially the viewing angle. It also has a built in satellite tuner and a 5v power supply facility for boosted aerials. I'm sure Avtex may be equally as good but it's worth a look and about the same money.
I also had call to use the customer support line when setting up the satellite dish and they were so helpful

Bog standard is fine if on EHU. We used a cheap supermarket one for years, as I did not like the price of the Avtex. However, when we replaced our van one came as part of the package. I am very impressed with it, particularly the viewing angles which are far better than the cheaper model. You could not view that from below without getting picture fade, with the Avtex you can. Also it is very easy to tune, which with freeview is required most times you move. I also believe they have a very low power consumption, if running on 12 volt. I would certainly replace it with another Avtex.

Whichever make you decided to buy, this, in my opinion is very much a case of you get what you pay for
As SteveL has said, like I did. the cheaper ones have a very poor viewing angle which can be a bit of a pain for two people watching TV from either side of the van. The Vision plus also has one touch returning like the Avtex.

In our last caravan we had an excellent small Hitachi 19inch TV but when we moved to a motorhome we decided on the 21inch Avtex with a DVD slot. The main reason for going for the Avtex was that it had a built in satellite receiver so reduced the amount of gubbins we had to have around. It has proved to be an excellent purchase with a really good picture. I know there are cheaper alternatives but given the amount of time we spend in the motorhome we approached it the same way as we would if we were buying a new TV for the lounge at home.

If you do not want a 'wok' outside on a tripod have you considered a roof mounted dome for the arial?
I have been well happy with my 'Tracvision' R4SL for past 10 years. You merely have to make sure that you are not under a tree or that there is a tall one to the south east of you when you pitch. Switch on the unit and it will self seek the signal for you.
A bit on the expensive side though.

Just bought a 22" Samsung from Argos. Bog standard HD telly, 240 volt supply direct into back of telly (unlike the previous telly which had a 240/12volt transformer power supply) £149 Perfect for two of us & half the weight of its predecessor.

We just bought a TV from Currys/PC World or wherever for very little money and it has been more than adequate. Only stipulation was that it had to have a built in DVD player for when we go abroad and want to watch a film. NB I can't remember the last time the DVD player was used. Satellite dishes - I find it incredibly depressing when we're abroad and you hear the strains of Coronation street and Eastenders blasting across the pitches!

arty, did i read that you are doing a bit of off gridding?
if so, i would go for a 12v tv, you dont want to be bother d with an inverter when away from 240.
that are a little bit more expensive (for decent ones).... we have a german branded one 'up front' but in the bedroom we have a VisionPlus which is great....both 12v
