Red Pennant claim advice

We unfortunately had to curtail our recent caravan holiday to France and we are in the process of claiming back what we can from the Red Pennant insurance. The advance trip costs were relatively small: a deposit on our main campsite and the full fee for one of our stopovers. Our Eurotunnel was paid for with Tesco Clubcard vouchers, however, we had to pay to amend our return journey (the difference in cost from the original booking).

The claim form we have received from Intana, the claim handlers, is very much geared to a package holiday where almost all the costs are up-front. Trying to complete the form has already caused a domestic between us! Is our claim form the standard form from Intana? Or should we have called RP before calling the claims line while we were in France?

Here in Club Together I've read many posts on how wonderful and helpful Red Pennant insurance is but, to us, at the moment, it doesn't feel like we have specialist caravan holiday insurance

Just doing one myself for cancelation of our trip on Eurostar. The claim form is specific to cancelation and just seems to be asking for total losses and of course invoices. I would assume for the extra cost of return you would just have to supply the old and new invoice for the crossing.

I was pleased I rang the claims line as soon as I could, because they explained I needed cancelation notices from the elements of the trip. None of them were refundable, as they were bargain prices bought 6 months in advance. However, they require proof of cancelation as well as the original invoice.

I have all the required notices now so can make my claim. Although the £80 excess rather surprised me. As it is £40 per insured person involved in the cancelation. It is the same for curtailment as far as I know.

I think that RP is at it's best when its dealing with quite major problems be it personal or car/motorhome related where alternatives have to be supplied or people repatriated. Some years ago I had my wallet stolen in Rome and I found the claims procedure quite annoying and eventually had to discuss the issue with the head of RP. Mainly the annoyance was around silly things but I don't think it was the same claims  adjusters. I was eventually sorted out but it was not a smooth or generous.
