Hitch, my post wasnt suposed to be silly....honestlysmile

for many (including us) the bio pods do 'clean' everything in the cassette and leaving it spotless as a by product.

washing pods do 'break down' solids (and everything else) when used in a washing machine which is why, i guess, they do a good job in a cassette, despite not having the agitation action of a drum.

my view on Blue, it does little but mask the smell (with its own pungent 'aroma') and add colouring, to make the contents more acceptable to those who are easily upset by these thingswink

ps I dont usually leave the cassette for 4 days....nor,ally empty after 2 or 3, perhaps this makes a difference? i dont see how the effectiveness can reduce over time, as mentioned upthread?

Currently on a 5 week trip, we have been trying out using only the Lidl pods, and plain water to flush, which is what we usually use.  We also tried them at the end of our last trip.

They seem to work fine, the smell is less "chemical" and only once did we feel the need to add some blue.  Possibly totally unnecessary if we had something perfumed in the flush.  We empty usually every 36 hours, so the bio pods are a good saving over our usual blue sachets.

It seems strange that the pods become less effective after using for a week or two. It's almost as though the cassette is becoming gradually contaminated. Anyway, they seem OK when alternated with the Thetford. We generally empty every day.

There are advantages of using pink in the flush tank, eg perfumed smell and the surfactant (reducing surface tension) aspect for the bowl, but use it sparingly so that you can only just see the pink colour in the flush water. You will save money but still get the benefit. See other posts on this subject.
