Black Knowl - walking distance eateries with dogs

Can anyone recommend a nice place to eat within walking distance of Black Knowl where we can also take our doggies?

I've only been to BK once, KD, so can't be 100% sure but I don't think there's anything within walking distance except forest.

We have eaten at the Snake Catcher in Brockenhurst which is near to the station and it was OK. Brockenhurst is within walking distance but it's not a short stroll. I seem to recall the site having details of a path into Brockenhurst which cuts a bit of distance off the road route.

You need to get a footpath map of the area which helps with any short cuts, otherwise expect about half an hours walking down to the ford area of Brockenhurst. By the ford is a nice cafe which accepts dogs, outisde garden too. Just wondering if it's still there, but there are others.
We usually walk back up the drive to the site, then cross over and turn left along the roadside footpath towards the village and head toward the ford. This is at the end of the High st. But there are other nice routes to take.
There are several eateries nearby, in fact you pass a big hotel on the walk, the Forest Park, which I think is dog friendly and has gardens at the rear.
You can also approach the village via the open land at the rear of the site by turning right outside the gates, a longish walk, sometimes quite a few ponies and cattle around. But then there are ponies and cattle in the village too, cattle grids keep them out of gardens and shops!

Depending on how far you're looking to walk your dogs, there is a superb pub called The Oak Inn, in the village of Bank. From Black Knowle, Bank can be reached using nearly all forest fireroad tracks, traffic free except for the occasional horse drawn trap.
The Oak Inn is dog friendly, or at least it was approx 4 years ago when we last visited. A lovely beer garden and decent food.
It is almost an hour to walk each way though, but if you've got a couple of energetic dogs like my two spaniels, its a great walk with a couple of clean shallow streams for them to take a cooling dip.
With a OS map, you'll easily work out the route

Plan B. The Red Shoot Camping Park - with several awards for excellence - is actually at a pub. I could easily find my way back to the caravan in the dark, late at night, not quite sober.
