2011 NISSAN X-TRAIL TYRE PRESSURES
Hi all,
Can anyone help me with the correct tyre pressures for my 2011 Nissan X-Trail. The sticker on the drivers door post shows the recommended pressures but has the front wheel pressures higher than the rear wheel pressures. That is contrary to what I have always assumed that when carrying a heavy load or towing the rear tyre pressures should be higher than the front.
Asking Nissan UK is a total waste of time as they just refer you to the local dealership who either say to use the sticker pressures of ask Nissan UK! Doesn't really answer my question!
Any help is much appreciated.

That has been the case with both the X trails I have owned. Always assumed it is because the engine is such a huge heavy chunk of metal. For towing I have always used the maximum figures, those for a full load. In my last X Trail book it did state to do that. However, there is no reference in this one. Irrespective of this it is a stable tow at those figures. When only towing it a short distance to our local site, I don't usually bother to increase them. It still handles OK, but I think is better at the higher pressures.
Did put my vehicle into DD's calculator and it came out very close to the figures shown on the door post. Those for minimal loading. So it agrees with having the front higher.

Thank you both for your replies. I'll continue to use the recommended pressures. It just seems strange to have the rear pressures lower than the front ones, my other tow cars (Honda Accord and, ages ago, Mk5 Cortina Estate) all had higher rear pressures.
Ah well, such is life.
