Nemesis security clamp

we bought the nemesis security clamp its the one thats shaped like a pear and has a long rod that threads through a hole in the wheel, my husband fitted it and when i came home today i had a quick look but to me it doesnt appear like others ive seen because it doesnt fit flush up to the wheel it stands off from the alloy wheel by about an inch and dangles down ,is this how it should be ? I dont want to pee on his bonfire ,lol but it just doesnt look all that secure lol ..... Any ideas? Cheers mrs bc )

The kit comes with 2 wheel nuts perhaps he is using the elongated one?

We have the same clamp.

According to my OH the problem is the locking end is protruding too much from the clamp so that itis still loose when engaged. You need to  reduce this amount by adding washers between the lock and the inner casing of the clamp. To do this - remove the tiny Allen screw on the side of the clamp, this will allow the lock assembly to be withdrawn, add a couple of washers (supplied with clamp) and try the fitting again. Too many washers and locking will not be possible. When the clamp is locking and a tight fit then you can replace the Allen screw.
