Knaresborough Site - Good News

Many of you will be aware that the Knaresborough site is currently undergoing a major revamp. Prior to the planning application for this work being submitted the club had attempted a couple of months earlier through a planning application to achieve a full twelve month all year round opening of the site. Harrogate Council following on from an objection of a local Councillor declined this.

Now the good news:- see page 10 of this months Club magazine on 'We continue to improve your sites". The final throw away six words of the paragraph on Knaresborough are:-" Knaresborough will be open all year."

Fearing this might be a typo I trawled the Harrogate Council planning applications and sure enough an appeal was entered by the Club and has recently been successful.

So to those in the Club involved in this congratulations and well done.

Yes, I have a vested interest, our daughter lives in Harrogate!

Bernard in Tring.

Now that is good news.  Can't read the magazine as the pony that brings it up to Scotland seems to have gone on its holidays.

I wonder if ALL site facilities will be open all year now.

And overcoming a planning restriction in one area can only be a helpful preceedent to similar applications elsewhere.

It will be interesting to see if Black Knowl opens all year once the refurbishment is complete. It seems a bit strange to object to a site being open all year because those months when it would be closed are unlikely to cause any local problems which are more likely to occur in the main season in terms of extra traffic etc?

It's a bit like congratulating British Airways because one of their flights was on time.....isn't this what this multi million pound company is supposed to do as the norm?wink

Surely the point of Bernard's post was to acquaint us with a snippet of information that we might otherwise not be aware of? For many I am sure knowing it is open all year will be enough but for some of us it is more interesting to know a bit about the background.

My comment obviously refers to the congratulatory aspect and not the informative aspect.

The information in the post is obviously very welcome to some members.

Members like Bernadin, who are prepared to do a fair amount of research, are an asset to the forum.
