Yellowcraig
I was wondering if anybody has been to Yellowcraig Caravan Site and what is the site like. I have had it recommended to me but it is an area that I am not familiar with.

Been a good few years since I have been there although we are booked to go in September.
From what I recall it's a fairly large, well spread out site but with the pitches arranged in small groups separated by banking or trees which gives the impression of being in a much smaller site, if that makes sense. From my recollection there is one central toilet block.
Walk out the gates, turn left and 5 minutes will take you onto the beach area, also a woodland area in that direction. Very close to the small village of Dirleton, but I can't say what exactly of interest is there apart from the ruins of an old castle. Nearest town of any note is North Berwick which certainly used to be a pleasant place to visit but haven't been there recently either.
Hopefully someone who has been at Yellowcraigs more recently will respond soon, I will also be interested in what they have to say about the site.

Same as Artel, keep meaning to revisit as it is excellent for the dog off the lead (down the beach😂😂).

We've been there four times over the years. There are separate bays some are hard standing and some mainly grass. Very handy for the beach and it's a pleasant 3 mile walk across the dunes and the golf course into North Berwick.
Edinburgh is about 20 miles away and the best way to get there is by train from North Berwick station. The dungeon is a good visit if a little scary and the Castle is good but you'll have to queue to get in. The air museum nearby ( the name escapes me) is worth a visit, lots of hands on exhibits and a Concorde that you can walk round and on as many times as you like.
The seabird centre in North Berwick is also well worth a visit.

Hi
Just back Yellowcraig today.
It's a fairly big site broken up into smaller sites by hedges and trees, with a mix of hard standing and grass pitches. We found Yellowcraig to be family site with lots of grandparents and grandchildren. All the youngsters that were old enough to cycle had bikes and it gave the site a busy feel and a great atmosphere.
Wardens were chatty and friendly at check-in and departure but we didn't have any more interaction than that with them.
Toilets had the usual caravan club 80s feel to them but were clean.
North Berwick was a typical tourist town with all the usual shops and restaurants, We went swimming in the local pool £7 for 2 adluts and a baby which was great value however the same couldn't be said for the local chippy.
The beach is couple of hundred yards from the site but didn't venture on to the beach as we had our baby son with us and it was bit wet.
The main thing is we'd return.

Hi Munro. Know Yellowcraig well, it is a great site in a lovely part of Scotland. Others have covered the main points about the site, this time of year it will be very busy, but it has a great beach close by, North Berwick is a lovely pretty town with lots of things to do for adults and children, and you can use the local rail links to explore the area more. Lots of lovely walks, great for cycling, great for other outdoor pursuits.
We prefer it outside of school holidays, as we have no children, but there is just so much to do and see in the area, including easy access to Edinburgh, lots of castles and gardens, Museum of Flight, some nice pubs etc....
Hope this helps!
