Just to let you know we're eating at The Packhorse on Wednesday. If it's no good you're in deep do-do.😋

Well, I'm willing to stake my house and the wife's pension on it! wink

Go for the belly pork and black pudding main or the buffalo burger or if you want something veggie Mrs M had (she thinks) a portobello mushroom, sweet potato and goats cheese stack.

Can't just remember the name of the beer we drank, might have been Wild Goose or named after some other feathered creature, but it was the business!

    Enjoy! smile

Ta, M but I'll have to give the beers a miss as they all have wheat in them, (called in for a recce on Sunday afternoon). However they do have a bottled French cider that reminds me of Brittany so that will go well with the belly pork (but alas without the black pudding). It's a minefield sometimes.

Pleasure postponed, M, so you can still spend Mrs.M's pension!

Mrs WN had a chill in her stomach overnight so we decided to wait a few days. Hopefully will get back before we leave on Sunday.

Wow, if it's got black pudding in the dish it's a winner for me!

Oh, that's a real shame. Hope she improves and you do get there.

Where are you staying, by the way? We tend to use Chatsworth when we're up there in the van, but always open to other suggestions! smile

micky - we're talking proper pub grub here - you get a proper size portion of belly pork with a large chunk of black pudding served on spring onion mash - none of that nouvelle cuisine there!

Have a look at their website www.packhorselongstone.co.uk

Well, Mrs.M's pension is safe, at least from us! The belly pork and mash was wonderful. MrsWN was sorry to miss the black pudding, being a girl from Bury but made do with the Gloucester Old Spot and mash.

We then walked some of it off by taking the trail into Bakewell.

Will call again, that's for sure. Probably try the Devonshire Arms in Hartington tomorrow as we'll walk in from Alstonefield along Wolfescote dale.

Staying on a CL near Monyash. It's fine but does slope a bit and is a tad exposed.Had a good recommendation for one near Alsop from a member we met on a walk yesterday (327 in book).
