Hi we're are off to godvery park in st Ives this weekend, we are planning on doing a few hours driving fri night and staying at a services on the m5 southbound to break the journey up.

Do any of you have any suggestions on which service would be best to stay at with our caravan?

Thanks Craig

The new Gloucester Services are the best at the moment, the only one I'd recommend. smile

Gloucester is a good one, but how far down the M5 do you want to go?

Gloucester are good and depending what day/time you're travelling might be as far as you can expect to get from Lancashire, given conditions on the M6 when we used it a few weeks back. But if you want to get further on, try Cullompton which has a dedicated caravan area before you get to the main parking area.

Thanks for the suggestions and eurotraveller we are traveling from the Manchester area so the Gloucester service is around the ideal distance for us in breaking journey up

Craig - if you do stop at Gloucester, aim for an early start on Saturday morning as the area around the M5/M4 interchange near Bristol will be very busy on a Saturday morning. Also the roadworks at Temple on the A30 are still not complete so there are likely to be hold ups there.

Good luck and enjoy Godrevy! smile

The roadworks from junction 1 to 2 on the M5 will be ongoing all year, but there were still three lanes open when we went down four weeks ago. Cadeside at Wellington Somerset is a good stop over but they are full this Friday night, so Gloucester sounds good. We are going to Godrevy Park later in the year for the first time, and we looked around the site last time we were in the area and it looked a great place to stay.                         Enjoylaughing

There are indeed still tiresome weekend queues in both directions on the A30 over Bodmin Moor -  and in addition there is to be complete overnight closure 7pm. to 6am. during  8 July to 13 July 2017 inclusive of the A30 roadworks section there - with a night time diversion after Launceston via Camelford and Wadebridge. But that is the end - the new dual carriageway section opens the next day, 14 July 2017.

Well, how did it go, Craig? Where did you stop and how was the traffic?

I won't ask if you're enjoying Godrevy because I know perfectly well what the answer will be! wink
