Probably something some of you will already have known but it never occurred to me till now. Just read on a facebook caravanning group, that two people have had tubes of their air awnings explode in the heat this weekend. Just something to be aware of and maybe reduce the pressure in hot weather.

Just when we thought there was no more entertainment to be had from watching people with awnings! smile

Friends had this happen with an air tent, in France last year. They were told it was 'a common problem' by the manufacturer.

I've just been reading up on this, and i seems to be a common problem with inflatable tents and awnings - so there should be lots more topics such as this one if the high temperatures of the last two days last a lot longer.

Possibly over inflated to start with?

I had this happen to my previous air awning.

it wasn't that the tubes were overinflated but the stitching on the air bladders covers giving way. I heard the bangs but couldn't work out what what was causing the noise. Then I noticed the odd bulging along the tubes and then the outer selves doubled in size. Contacted the manufacturer who sent out replacements without any fuss and was never a problem again. The inner bladders were not damaged in anyway.
