We were able to adjust the temperature on our Abbey if we used gas. As low as 40C. However, I understood the low temperature was not supposed to be used continuously as it posses a health risk, due to the possible risk from legionella bacteria. The system should be run periodically at maximum, 70C on our Alde, to prevent this possibility.

A big welcome to camping, you will have already seen there are a few people her that will hijack a forum just to try and prove some point of there own that is completely irrelevant to the question you asked. Don’t worry about this it isn’t just you it happens to all of us from time to time, please don’t let this put you off asking questions.
There is thousands of years of experience here to gleam from and it can be very helpful, if a post is hijacked by 2 or 3 people that have nothing better to do than me right no matter what just laugh at them and keep asking, don’t be one of those put off from seeking advice because of a few sad posters, they are just part of the free entertainment.
As to your initial question, we have been caravan/motor homing for many years and we leave the heat on from start to finish, you never know when you want hot water so need it ready when needed.
We might turn it off if we know we will be out all day but wont worry at all if we forget, have run on electric and on gas, as has been said you are on holiday relax the thermostat can look after itself.
