Praise for CMC site wardens

I read a fair bit on this site and others before embarking on our first proper caravan trip, this April. From quite a lot of comments, I got the impression that wardens as a species were liable to be grumpy & officious, thus possibly a little intimidating for caravan newbies who were more used to the friendly approach of most people running tent sites in the areas we choose to visit.
So, to balance this - of the CMC sites we've visited so far, every single warden has been superbly helpful, polite, & friendly; these being in Scotland, the Lake Dist. and Winchester, so far. The ones we've met have all had welcoming smiles. Where reasonable & responsible flexing of rules has been helpful, they've done it. They've been efficient, but when time allowed, most happy to chat, too.
I've just been on a CMC site where a Japanese solo walker with a tent had been delivered, when lost, by some helpful local people the night before, and the warden was now helping him, with his limited English and unfamiliarity with the culture here, to work out how to get his next camp, which wouldn't even be a CMC site. (Brave of him, too, to undertake a solo walk round England when still working hard on the language!)

We have stayed on only one site where wardens weren't so friendly, and it wasn't CMC.

Looking forward to our next site :-)

Richard

By and large they are good people who mostly do the job because they like it. Their hands are very often tied by the club and they have to work within those constraints but, despite that, they frequently go the extra mile when the need arises.

No way would I want the job of dealing with some of the curmudgeons we read of on here so well done wardens.

95% of people are good folk. Wardens are people. Ergo wardens are good folk. smile

In all the years and sites I've been to ,I've only come across one warden that was a bit "offish"
