Warning about Michelin compressor tyre inflators

We bought a Michelin tyre inflator from Halfords as it was a good price and had symbols on the box showing it was suitable for both car & caravan tyres.

Opening the box at home we were very surprised to find it would only deliver a maximum pressure of 40 PSI...!! This would be useless as our caravan tyre pressure is 58 PSI.

We returned the item to Halfords who kindly swapped it for one of their own make, which can inflate to 120 PSI.  The Manager checked all Michelin models and they all stated a maximum 40 PSI, even though they all had car and caravan symbols on the box denoting suitability.

Michelin tyre inflators are clearly only designed for cars and not for caravans.

Good warning handsj. I bought one from Halfords last year that was misrepresented on the box it was supposed to be automatic etc etc but I  was helped by some kind men on site and duly inflated both caravan wheels but it took ages and stopped when meter read 40psi.  When my helpers weren't looking I dug out my ancient hand held gauge to check. Then I invited one man to look,  nah he said those are unreliable but I asked him to check his car and he agreed it was about accurate.  So to the caravan...90 psi!!!   The pump must have added 40 to the existing 50 psi!   I am very glad I didn't drive up the A1 on those!

Sorry can't remember what make it was but Halfords gave a full refund.  Seems best not to believe what it says on the box!
