Sites for motorhomers?
Now I know many of us motorhomers enjoy sites where we can pitch up and walk directly out to enjoy the surrounding area while others umongst us enjoy sites for other specific reasons. I'm just wondering if folk could post sites which they feel are good for our style of touring and the reasons why. I for one like sites which are within a couple of miles stroll of a 'town' with shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants and have good walks out from the site itself. Can you share your gems?

Rowantree Park - if you manage to book a pitch and find you can get your outfit on it!

Ferry Meadows is that sort of site, also suits all other type of Leisure Vehicles
or Ashridge Farm or Cirencester or Broadway or Moreton in Marsh or Henley or Bearsted or the list goes on that have something to suit within a couple of miles of the site,it would be be easier to post sites that do not have that sort of access,

Melrose in actually within the town, everything within walking distance, shops, pubs, cafes, restaurants (10% off with CC cards), and an abbey. Good walking, including hills. Large Co-op literally two minutes from the site. Also excellent public transport links, railway to Edinburgh is 30 minutes walk from the site.

Moffat C&CC site. It's as close to the town as Gibson Park is to Melrose with an even bigger Co-op on the doorstep.
Dingwall C&CC site is on the edge of town close to the station.
Tewkesbury Abbey is another near the town.

Harford Bridge Touring Park on the edge of Tavistock, Devon - walk, cycle or bus into town.

Southport site is only a short walk from the seafront and town, Wirral country park is on the Wirral Way and has good walks along the path to West Kirby and beyond, Barnard Castle is only about a mile from town, Steamer Quay, Totnes is on the edge of town but has no EHU and Burrs Country is only about a mile from Bury.

Aye Craigie CC Berwick Seaview CC Keswick C&CC Moffat C&CC Oxford C&CC Lomond Woods Caravan Park Forfar Lochside CC these are the ones I can think of at the moment that were within walking distance of towns

There was an excellent thread, started by Roy & Sharon, that gave all the information sought after on here. I think it was called " UK Sites Where No Car Is Needed" or words very similar. Is it still about, or has that also been lost to cyberspace???.....

Of course you are right ET but often the option of taking that tow car out for the day and then strolling around a nearby town or area is far easier than moving and parking the motorhome. We have therefore found that some sites lend themselves to what we consider more akin to our style of touring. Each to their own of course!

obviously, each member's capacity to 'stroll' is different, but Hartsholm Country Park site on the outskirts of Lincoln is 2.7 miles and a flat walk.0

Wysdom Touring Park at Burford, Oxon - ten minutes stroll into the town. But it's an adults only site.

Ludlow Touring Park, part of the Morris Leisure group.....around 20-30 mins stroll....

Minehead CC site.....15 mins to town centre....

getting out a little farther, but both Cambridge club sites are about an hours stroll (3 miles ish) or an easy bike ride...or city bus....

oxford C&CC is a 30 mins (1.5 ml) walk.
