Site recommendations near Sittingbourne?

Has anyone got any recommendations for a site near Sittingbourne or within a short drive (<20 minutes)?

Needed for early September.

Needs easy walking to a shop or in the worst case scenario a bus stop as I'll have no transport during the day

    Hi JayEss

Our Bearsted site is about a 20 minute drive from Sittingbourne. There is a village about a mile away and a bus stop adjacent to the site.

    Hope this helps.

Husky it's just location I'm after. It's not a holiday trip so need to be as close as possible.

Tracy I considered Bearsted but the price for a non member will be too high I'm afraid.

JayEss, does it have to be with a caravan? There's a site nearby that just takes tents, Palace Campsite or something like that. I think it also hires them out.

I remember because we were going to Kent this Spring so did a bit of looking at sites but a family op has meant we're not now going.

I think I found it on the UK Campsite website.

Thanks WN but the caravan is essential. I can't see myself spending at least 10 hours a day on my own in a tent.

    CLs are out unfortunately

Is the one at Scragged Oak viable? It's at Detling.

Trouble with that one is that it's in the middle of no where ,with no public transport or local shops

I haven't given up looking ,but it's a tough one

    Hi jayess

You could try The Scargged oak Caravan park . It's on top of Detling hill behind Kent county showground. They have there own web site. Telephone 01622 631298. Hope this helps you. Dave

Thanks but it's just a bit too remote without transport

I think I may have to hire a car

There is one near faversham but like Scargged oak it not near a direct bus route. To sittingbourne. It's called Painters farm caravan and camping site. There is another near there trying to think of its name

I'll look at that one as well  Thanks

I'll be staying on site while OH is busy in Sittingbourne during the day so transport links anywhere is ok for me as he'll have the car. (I can't drop him off as he needs it)

If we can't make it work it's not too important.  Just seemed a good opportunity for a week away

There must be a bus stop near Detling showground as it's on the main route from Maidstone to sittingbourne. Would best ask the bus company.should be one at the show ground?

For me the best site for you would be the bearsted club site good bus link plus you could walk to Leeds castle from the site.maidstone is great for shopping or go on a boat trip on the Medway river plus there are two museums in Maidstone. Dave

Have a look at Painters Forstal site at Ospringe. It's near Sittingbourne and Faversham.

Thanks. It's right on the edge of my search area. What's traffic like into Sittingbourne?  Prone to delays?

I've decided to hire a car.  It's a fair hike to Kent for us and it seems a shame not to be able to get around to see things while I'm there

There's a couple of good options here so thanks all

Perfect!  Hope it's better than the one near me.

Might even bring my passport and have a sneaky trip to Paris as well.  Got to keep occupied somehow while the other half is busy

Eurostar is very busy now , so it might not be a good idea to just turn up at Ashford international

    Hi jayEss

There are lots of places to visit in Kent if shopping is your thing don't miss blue water shopping centre  as well as Ashford outlets. Canterbury is brilliant for shopping and the cathedral. Rochester for castle and cathedral. Chatham dockyard. Dover castle and the coast. You could even take a day trip to France. Kent is a beautiful county enjoy your trip . Dave
