Much Wenlock/Presthope lives again
We were sad when the club site at Much Wenlock closed last year. So today driving past we were amazed to see the site open again albeit under a slightly different name. On our way back we called in to check it out. It is now in private ownership and seems to have had money spent on it. It is more open, roads have been resurfaced and there is a limited wc and shower facility. £15 a night with 16 amps. Now called Presthope Grange caravan park. For members who haven't visited before it on the road between Church Stretton and Much Wenlock in Shropshire, an area of outstanding natural beauty. Within a few miles there is much to do including Ironbridge and Bridgnorth. I understand from the duty manager that tv reception is good but mobile coverage is variable- Vodaphone and O2 are OK. I have no connection with the site, staff or owners but am local and think the site is a gem in a lovely area.

Thanks for the update.

It seems to lift all the info from the former Club leaflets. I didn't understand this, "Arrivals after 12pm, Departure by 12pm. No siting after dusk or before 6pm, whichever is sooner." If I cannot arrive until noon and cannot pitch before 6pm ...
For the price, I want to know what are the limited wc and shower facilities.
It was always one of our favourite sites and is in a great location. Good to see it reopen even if no longer a CC site.
Thanks Waffler.

I'm not sure what Aspenshaw means by "For the Price" because £15 per night inc 16amp EHU is quite good and compares very favourably with many CL's offering no facilities !
Will certainly consider that as a suitable stop en route to N Wales!

It was one of the £14 a night sites.
We stayed for a few nights last season. Although I like the no facility sites we agreed that we'd not return to this one. I'm glad it's available again for those that liked it.
I noticed that £15 was an introductory price and there is a charge for dogs. (Also a rather wild claim about being one of the few dog friendly sites)

if this is the site I wasn't able to find any mention of WC/Shower facilities.

Did they get rid of it or did the owners just reclaim it at the end of the lease?

Used this site a lot a few years ago. Then I went to a seasonal pitch at Ebury Hill. Now back touring and will definitely use this site. I live local so will have a ride out and take a look.

Just looked it's web site and it doesn't make any reference to a toilet block in it's list of facilities. It now charges £20 pn + £2 per night for dogs. This is the link that I used....2847873.hs-sites.com/touring-park-shropshire

As far as we know, it’s now a luxury park home retirement complex. That’s certainly what we saw when we drove past last year. I wonder if owners kept it going while waiting for planning permission? The website has plenty of information regarding park homes, but not so much on the touring pitches. Most other campsite websites show it now as a Park home Site.
We miss this little site, enjoyed our stays there.

Yes very strange, although I think that you are right. I did a try a booking on the touring site, using a dummy e-mail address and it accepted the booking!!

Brave you! If I was considering buying a Park home to retire into on the site, not sure I would want tourers coming and going! Grand little site though.

Did you notice the prices from £199K to £299K! bit out of my league, I'll stick with Cls at £14 pn or there abouts, thank you very much.

Sounds like the worst of both worlds to me. I hope they’ve got permission for full residential use for the retirement homes.

That’s what I was wondering. It’s a nice little location, but those prices are ridiculous..........unless you are downsizing from London, in which case, a bargain😂

In truth, the prices are pretty much the going rate, although towards the top end. They are much more expensive than holiday vans due to being built to different standards and the price will include transport, siting and connecting to services, as well as all furnishings and appliances.

For comparison purposes, I sold a two bed apartment on the Costa Blanca with a communal swimming pool for half that a couple of years back.

What, £1k?
How can you compare a holiday apartment in Spain with a residential retirement park home in Shropshire? 🤔

I was comparing with NTH not ET. One is still a glorified caravan, the other is bricks and mortar.
