New Shock absorbers
Trying to find replacement shock absorbers for my Fleurette Tamaris 38 pop-top caravan. Problem is first question from dealers/websites is reg no. of car?- obviously not applicable. Al-KO replacements are too long. Minimum length of old ones is 212mm, maximum length is 292mm. The axle plate says 750kg. Markings on the old shock RECO 96-2 REF 00786. Local caravan repairs/spares centres tell me I have "more chance of shovelling fog than finding replacements" Nothing of Google UK, French or German sites. Anyone have ideas?

Have you explored the option of having the originals refurbished ?
There are plenty of specialist companies out there that cater for the classic car and motorcycle scene where a lot of parts have become obsolete.

Have you tried ringing one of the 'Old School' dealers which have been around for decades?
Don Amott (other dealers are available) have this on their website:
Parts galore!
We hold a broad range of caravan and motorhome accessories, parts and appliances in stock, but are usually able to source and order most other parts on request. As well as the brands listed above, we can also order and fit parts for: SEA Spa Group, Elnagh, McLouis, Mobilvetta, Trigano Spa, Autoroller, Granduca and Tribute models.
Parts can also be delivered to anywhere in the UK, if required.
Their number: 01283 732 193
Even if they can't help you, they maybe able to advise you further?
Good luck

Thanks for the comments. Sadly, Don Amott have never heard of the make and cannot help. It's not an AL-KO chassis but as a tip Al-KO axles have a code number right in the middle of the axle underneath the van (crawl under and look up or use your selfie stick) if you find this then it can be used to identify all suspension parts. This is in addition to the VIN number

Sorry not logged on for ages.
Try http://www.pieces-accessoires-remorques.com/
for the shock absorbers (amortisseurs in French)
I have also just sourced new gas struts for the pop top roof from SGS engineering in the UK. https://www.sgs-engineering.com/
Persistance helps and using non-uk Google sich as google.fr
Of course you have to use the appropriate language if you search a French (or other countries google)
