HD, we were told by the volunteer warden the other day, at the CC's Clachan site, that as we were in a caravan we needed an awning pitch if we were going to use our canopy, but could have used a non-awning pitch if we'd been a M/H using an canopy.

...would this be because you had a car aswell as your van on the pitch, taking up the 'two slots' allowed on a non awning pitch?

perhaps a MHer would be putting his wind out canopy into the area where your  car would be?

i guess you cant have a car, caravan and an awning (wind out or not) where only two elements are allowed for spacing reasons?

Correct , BB. The point I was making was that I was informed that a M/H with canopy could use an non-awning pitch whereas HD was told that he would have needed an awning pitch for that combination. Obviously the warden at Battle, the site HD was on, didn't know or follow the rules.
