Club Sites
Just had a Weekend at a Club Site, i must say we do not use Club Sites very often as we do find them expensive. The site was lovely with beautiful walks toilets and showers nice and warm but what spoils it for us is the wardens. They did not appear helpful , i asked if Papers could be ordered to which they supplied we don't have papers. They asked if we had been there before and when we said no that was it. They seem to be more focused on spending time with their family who turned up. People on the site vaguely said hello. Next time we want to go down that area we will find another site nearby...

This is a duplicate thread. See 'Lighten up a bit'.

How do you "vaguely say hello" ? You either say it or you don't. If someone says "Hello" what more do you want? This appears to be almost identical to a previous thread.

At the risk of being called a member of the CAMC "fan club" I have to say that's exactly the opposite of our only experience of a club site this year at Moorhampton where the wardens couldn't have been more welcoming on arrival and all our fellow campers were as friendly as you'd want them to be!
So I think you were maybe unlucky - whenever we've been to a club site and said it's our first time, it's hard to then get away from the wardens, they want to give you so much information! And as far as newspapers are concerned, I guess they need to have a willing newsagent nearby who's prepared to accept differing orders each day, deliver them to the site and then miss out on any extra trade they might get from you actually using their shop.
A bit harsh to judge club (or any other) sites on one bad experience, I'd say.

Our Club Site experiences tend to mirror yours Moulesy, but we aren't around on site very much anyway.
Not sure why this warrants two almost identical threads?

We use club sites mainly out of season, so not a lot. But on the whole I'd say wardens have been welcoming and helpful, and on site some people say hello, others don't. We have met the odd grumpy and not very pleasant warden too (we have been members for over 25 years, so not surprising during that time really!) but they have been well in the minority.
On non club sites we've met the same mixture of people and wardens though, so on the whole I'd say "it's life"

but was it a bad experience? what did the OP want the wardens to do? If they don't do papers, they don't do papers. It is not compulsory for wardens to do this or even run a shop. Did they expect the wardens to get then especially for them? There is always two sides to every stroy. I expect when they said no to being there before, they were shown a site map? Were you OP?
Like you M, I've always had good efficient service from the wardens. In and out of the office
PS was this post one get one free day?

I wonder if the persons who find the wardens curt and the other campers unfriendly are carrying about with them some sort of sign? Or is it just their own attitude that promotes an immediate lack of contact from others?

I am not sure why we have two threads on the same subject. As this one has had less contributions I will close this one and ask everyone to concentrate on the other thread.
Thanks
