Hi anyone got tips for safe cleaning the exterior sealant on a caravan. The bodywork always looks brilliant but the traffic dust stuck to the sealant lets it down. The caravan is less than a year old and I don't want the dirt to get too embedded. Your help would be appreciated.  Bod.

I guess many of us have the same annoying problem. The sealant is a non-setting mastic so will always remain sticky until it has a coating of dust on it. Usually this is dark airborne dust which is very visible on the caravan. Something that I have thought about trying to do is get some white dust such as powdered chalk to stick to it. Once coated other dirt shouldn't have a sticky surface to attach to. It might mean wiping the surface initially with white spirit which will probably bring off the existing dirt and make the surface sticky again.

Not easy, try a 10% dilution of Fenwick's Caravan leaner.

Thanks for your replies. Looks like I had better get the old toothbrush out - just wish they could find a sealant to use that was easier to keep clean- and that I didn't suffer from OCD!!!

Hi Bod, I also use a little white spirit sometimes, but as you say, virtually impossible to to keep every millimeter pristine white.

Love the name by the way😉

    Cheers, Alex.
