Just a heads up to those that might think of using this site in the future. This year is the last one when the site will be open. It is closing for the final time on Sept 3rd as they are going to use the area for a Head Office Buildings.

That's a shame, it's a really useful stop over place. Not used it myself but friends have, will there be a new site nearby? We use CMC Englethwaite Hall if we're up that way.

If it's just for a stop overnight, or longer of course, brue, there are a couple of CL's not far off the M6 at Penrith that would be worth considering, if you book early enough....Moss Thorn, No.296 in SD & Slapestone Villa, No.299.

From our point of view it was useful as a stop over rather than anything else. It is pretty ugly and we would not consider it anything more than that. Even then I still do not like sites closing as it means more competition for the rest.

There is provision for caravans in a separate area on the Southbound services though.

Thanks Nellie, will keep those in mind. Might manage a longer trip later in the year and will no doubt head north.

Approx 35 miles north is a superb CL, Ghyll House at Wreay near Carlisle (265) and only a couple of miles off the Motorway.
