Booking a pitch - did you know this?

I've just been booking some club sites and I've noticed something I've not seen before.

On the booking screen, the one with months and dates on it, if you hover your mouse over a site full date, a little pop up appears saying not available, however on some dates nothing happens, but on some dates the little pop up says Less than 5 pitches available!

Is this a new thing, or am I the last person to find it?

No thanks to you. I'm just glad that someone else hadn't noticed as well. Wonder why the club hasn't told anyone, or maybe I missed it?

thanks all, but I think i may have opened up another can of worms,  I wonder how long it will be till a post opens with:

It said there were less than five pitches but while wandering about the site I noticed 7, if we had deposits....

I think what is more likely to happen is that it has now been drawn to the attention of the authorities and will be removed forthwith!

Does not seem to work on my iPad☹️. You can't really hover on a pad, you are either touching it or your not.

It's a good 'find': there might be other 'goodies' buried in the software just waiting to be discovered. I recall that 'Excel' had a Flight Simulator buried in the code!

I cann't see it is of much use, there are either free pitches or there aren't is all you need to know.

Possibly true, but a number of folk have said that knowing a site is busy or almost full might pesuade them to look elsewhere. So it would be useful for them.

by the same token, the 'less than 5 pitches left' pop up might encourage folk to book, irrespective of the actual number of pitches availablewink

would probably encourage a larger number than that which get 'put off' by it.

a large red flashing 'almost full' logo sounds like a good marketing wheeze.....

cant really believe the club would pull the wool over anyone's eyes but....undecided

I have to say I thought the same thing. The times when I've been car hunting when the dealer rings back and says  'just to let you know, out of courtesy, that there's been a few people looking at it today '

Thanks for all the replies from everyone ,I have given it some thought as to why the club hasn't told anyone and I think it's because the IT/website designer hasn't actually told them!

Corners, last night I checked to see if what you'd spotted worked for the Clachan site, as we were heading that way today. It showed that there were less than 5 pitches available. However when we arrived there were many more than 5 pitches free and the wardens told us that there was only one other van due today!! So I think the " Less than 5 pitches available!" statement is an anomaly, another one on this web site!!!

We are due to go to Altnaharra in a week or so times and it's saying the same thing for the date we're due to arrive so I'll see what the actual situation is next week.

Just tried it out but it seems to be only working on serviced pitches?

Don't forget if you are after a late booking and the web site shows full ring the site, speak to the wardens and on a number of occasions I have been able to book a pitch.
