Water pump

Hi. We've recently bought an Elddis Autoquest 180. I'm trying to work my way round understanding how it's put together. The attached photo is of the water pump for the fresh water tank. Can you help identify what the white cylinder is?

    Hi, Its a surge damper, in place to smooth the flow of water through the system.
