so ive been looking at breakdown cover and looked at Mayday. What are people's opinions of it and how good is their coverage. I know that way back when green flags coverag wasn't the best.

thanks

I have used their services on several occasions in the past and the service has always been first class. The 2 journey cover can also be a distinct bonus over some other providers. Would definitely recommend the service.

I fell out with Green Flag quite a few years ago which prompted me to go to the C & CC breakdown cover with RAC which have rescued me once reasonably successfully - there was a bit of a delay with the people in the office but since I was stuck on a caravan site not a motorway it wasn't too important - the actual rescue by the contractor was brilliant - thanks Redhill!

Generally the service is excellent and I would not go anywhere else particularly as the cover is very wide and better than you will get from most others. The RAC service through the C&CC the RAC is similarly wide but more expensive.

I'm with green flag and last year suffered a motorway breakdown whilst towing.(50 miles from home)

Response was excellent, got a replacement tow-car, after the touring holiday, swapped tow car back and got a ride back to home along with my van and busted car.,

    Worth their weight in gold!.

Any recovery service is only as good as the local agent that's sent to you.

True, but in the area of Basingstoke, M25/M3 they were brilliant.

Would not use anyone else. Had a breakdown a few years ago on M25 on our way home, managed to get to Clackett Lane services. Recovery agent arrived in less than 30 mins. Problem could not be repaired on scene so outfit recovered home to Leeds with no problem whatsoever. We have 3 cars with Mayday one being a 1972 Triumph Herald all for just over £100 which I consider a bargain. I work in the motor trade & not everything can be repaired at the roadside so very worthwhile.

Green Flag also do a service for those of us that only have 1 driver. Should that driver fall ill or cannot drive the car, they will send out a driver to get you home. This gives piece of mind to the other halve that could be stuck with the car/caravan but NO driver. Do not think the extra premium is that much.

What happens if your vehicle is already full, does one of them have to make their own way home?......

I always get confused when reading posts on Mayday and GreenFlag.  They are two different policies.  The CAMC MayDay policy is designed for Caravanners and gives extra cover (e.g. 'double journey'), cover for caravans of any size, and cover for caravan breakdown.  The Mayday cover does use the Greenflag network, but the cover is more comprehensive.  Do not assume that the cover spied by Greenflag and Mayday is the same.  Always check the terms of cover and if you are unsure, seek (preferably written) clarification.
