I suggest calling the Club "CAM-SEE" in normal conversation. What do you think?

    Not a lot, I'm afraid.

To be honest, I can't remember when it last featured in a conversation of mine.

Just caught my eye, while having a quick look at a couple of forums, the following take on the new name.

At 43 feet long and 17 feet wide it must be close in size to some of the continental 'vans we see on the roads today.

When I am away and someone asks where I am staying I would say "the caravan club site in ........".  I have no intention of saying "the Caravan and Motorhome Club site in ......"  So I think most will just continue to use Caravan Club and forget about the other new bit.

Perhaps motorhomers will say The Motorhome Club Site, ha ha.  Who know, who cares!

I think I will still be staying on a caravan site - and it will still be the CC to me although I may watch my language when talking with MHs wink

Perhaps motorhomers will say The Motorhome Club Site, ha ha.

Perhaps indeed!  There actually already IS a "Motorhome Club" which makes all this sorry mess even more pointless.

[They happily accept trailer caravans, by the way]

Can't access that as I was banned from there for daring to question the poor practices of a retired lazy copper. All I can say now is that was before the Hillsborough verdicts, which proved my point tongue-out

Won't be returning there, this is a much better forum tongue-out

I do prefer this article in the Guardian, posted by a moderator an a much more sensible caravan forum:

Barman/people on the next table in the pub -"on holiday?" yes, we're staying at the CMC site in .....  Barman/people "what is a CMC site?"  Me - "Caravan Club" .... Barman "Oh yes I know it."

If talking to somebody I am unlikely to say that I am staying on the 'CC' site or 'CMC' site or the 'CAMC' site (as suggested by Rochelle). I would simply say that I am staying on the Caravan Club site.

I have only ever hoovered, I have never owned a hoover. My parents owned one, I'm 60. So I don't hold out much hope of the new name catching on very quickly 😎

    The 2 above posts

The device you refer to was the one that had the tag line of  'you beat as you sweep as you clean' as engraved on the lapel badge of every employee of the company tongue-out

Remember the ad well. Upright one with a ?light on it, so you could see the dirt.

Sorry it's well off topic, but I don't see new name beibg memorable in the same way. Couldn't remember the initials to type in this 😂. Perhaps we need a catchy slogan too. Tongue in cheek thingy!

Hi Keefy, I thought as you said that you 'preferred' the article you had seen both.

I avoided making any posts on the recent changes but was amused reading this report and wondered what others would think.

No worries. Think it's a context thing in posts tongue-out

The article has provided amusement all round.

Hi Keefy, well at a mere 21 posts so far this thread it certainly the more exclusive one compared to others regarding the changes!

Given the criticism of the new signs elsewhere, perhaps CAN'T-SEE is more accurate.

    New name !!

I wonder if HQ in East Grinstead will save all the old wooden site signs for bonfire night - or will they just set fire to a huge stack of £50 notes instead yell

    Pointless, pointless, pointless

Don't worry, the recent site price hikes will pay for the new signs. wink

I first Joined the Caravan Club in 1979 and for me that is what it will always be. - The Caravan Club. I do not recognise the new name.

I object to the little phrase on the new logo which gives the new name, and then claims to have existed since 1907. It hasn't it has only existed since 2017!

The new logo itself is very poor indeed, easily confused with the Wall's Ice cream logo it certainly fails to convey any connection with caravanning.  Bah Humbug!!

We will still call it the Caravan Club but there again we still call the C&CC the Camping Club and it must be around 30 years since they changed their name. Old habits die hard in our house.

Have to say having seen the new site signs they looked pretty cheap and nasty to me.
