Runners (rugs) in caravan - stop them moving?
we like to cover the main walkway areas (near door and between front bench seats) with a runner, to protect the fitted carpets underneath, from dirty shoes etc.
but how do we stop these runners from moving and creeping along the caravan? There's plenty of gripping devices on the market but pretty much all seem designed for use on a hard floor, not on top of a pre-existing carpet.
i've seen one gripper designed for use on a carpet, which has self-adhesive surface to stick to underside of runner, and then lots of small spikes to grip down into top side of carpet, allegedly with no damage caused to carpet. I suspect they are designed for use with household carpets, which may be thicker than caravan ones. Anyone tried them? Or any other alternative?
ideas most welcome.

The spiky grips don't work for long in my experience of using them at home. We use mats with a rubber backing and the stay in place reasonably well despite our dogs best efforts to move them around.

We have a carpet/mat running from the caravan entrance that crosses over and on the main aisle runner, tried everything including the spiked grippers, velcro in fact everything but 6" nails. Nothing stops it from 'walking' sideways on the pile of the main aisle carpet runner underneath, now resigned to repositioning regularly.

As I am sure you know, the runner movers because of the angle of the pile of the under carpet. If you put a sheet of lining paper under the runner, then the runner shouldn't be unaffected by any pile. Also, get some of the pins (probably for free if you are good at scrounging) that are used by carpet sales and carpet showrooms. They have a ring shape at the top for pushing in and pulling out of the carpet rolls. Easy, very cheap and should work.

I have suffered from the same problem. I think that I have finally found a solution!
John Lewis sells a non slip rug hold:

This is like an underlay and sticky on both sides. It is suitable for hard and carpeted floors and so far it is working well with my rug in the caravan.

When we got our new Barcelona - because we have a dog and use the van all year - we decided to remove the carpets completely and replace then with three cheap runners that came from (I think) somewhere like B&M Bargains. They are roughly the same colour as the original carpet so blend in well and have rubber backs and do not slip at all on the vinyl floor covering. One covers in between the seating area, another in front of the sink / cooker and the third one was shaped and stitched to go around the fixed bed. Works well for us as they are easy to clean and give a degree of comfort although not quite as 'luxurious' as the original carpet.

We only use something down when weather is wet. We have two bath towels that tone with van carpet being rough they sit flat and never move. If/when they get dirty I wash them and put another set down if still wet. They do not take. Lot of room up when not in use Our van is coming up for 12 years old and beige carpet still looks like new.
