Depends on weight of car, weight of caravan for a start off.

For my 1500mptlm Lunar I would consider the CR-V - 1.6i-DTEC [2WD] (88 kW/118 hp)  2 wheel drive version underpowered in some hilly areas of the UK and not suitable personally.

    I would consider the  CR-V - 1.6i-DTEC [4WD] (118 kW/158 hp)  4 wheel drive as fine.

Each to their own however - as said what are you towing??

I have the 2013 CR-V 2.2 EX i-DTEC and it is a brilliant tow car.  The 1.6 - if it is all wheel drive - should be equally as good.  The 1.6 engine is higher rated than the 2.2.

As recently as 20 years ago a 2 litre diesel, eg a Peugeot 406, produced as little as 90 bhp. It was considered perfectly adequate to tow quite heavy caravans with this power level. I have recently bought a 1.6 4x4 Renault Kadjar which produces 130bhp. The increase in power from these modern diesel engines show that you don't need to run a large engine car all year to be able to tow your caravan when needed.
