oyster satellite repairs
We live in North Yorkshire and the Oyster Sat. automatic system has developed some faults. Does anyone know a place where we can have it fixed and updated. I have been messing about with it for two days now, to no avail, which seems par for the course for me, so any info would be really appreciated. Thanks in anticipation,-------Bob S.

I Googled your thread title and it produced dealers/repairers in Northants. Lincolnshire and Wakefield.
MHFacts or other MH forums would certainly have a few experts if no real assistance here.

What issues are you having?
I have just been setting mine up to receive Intelsat 907 so I can have BBC in Spain so been doing a lot of research. If its programming ie not finding the satellite I may be able to help you input new co-ordinates

I always use Oyster-Sat Tech Ltd. Tel:01858 575 928.
They will guide you through the update process over the phone and also do software updates for which you need to send them your box.
Last time I had it done it was £38.75.

Hi Stewart, very interested in this as we have purchased a "Icecrypt" box so we can use Intelsat 907 when we are in Spain next. We got details off someone who full times out there when we were out last year. Haven't had the chance yet to try it out abroad, did you have any problems getting it set up. OH has tried it here but we are out of range for it, we know the box works just not in range to pick it up.

Sounds like you have ventured down the same road as I did. I bought an Icecrypt box and followed all the advise on the various websites. I was unsure how I would actually manually point the Oyster in the correct direction so opted to look into programming the Oyster to do it for me. Its a very simple process and I basically followed the process outlined in the link above to Jackson Satellites posted by Rowen1. This process is how you change your frequencies for Astra 2 when the sat owners changed them a few years ago. However, the process is the same. We never use hotbird, so I went in and changed the frequency to Instalsat Frequency 11495. You will see on the Jackson instructions that it requests you set up 4 co-ordinates. Intelsat only has one co-ordinate as all Freeview channel use the same frequency. The reason for selecting 4 for Astra (who uses a number of differing frequencies per channel) is in the event a frequency is changed. The Oyster then searches for the next one on the list with the hope being 1 of the 4 wont have changed an you will find your satellite.
Follow the instructions on Jacksons website using the following details-
Frequency - 11495
Pol - V
Symbol - 44100
FEC 9
On the subject of the Icecrypt box, did you update the firmware to the latest version and have you entered the BISS code?
I should add for anyone else reading this the watching of Freesat on Intelsat 907 is illegal and the BUSS Codes to allow you to do this which are available on the internet can change at anytime with no guarantee of being able to continue viewing.

Just read your post again and you mention you are "out of range" assuming you are in the UK you should not have no issues picking it up after all that is the sole purpose of Freeview on Intelsat 907 it is the emergency back up system for the UK Freesat if the repeater stations were to fail.
Best to work the issues here than in Spain

Just out of interest does this product bypass the built in satellite decoder?

As far as I am aware none of the Oyster products have built in decoders. Mine is part of a package which includes an Avtex TV which has the built in decoder.
When connecting to Intelsat 907 you need to have a correct decoder. The decoder also has to be able to decode the signal which is encrypted as this satellite is not technically used for broadcast and is illegal to view.
Its primary function is to provide a back up to the Freesat network in the UK. The codes for the encryption are widely available online. These do change and no guarantee that the codes will remain available. The satellite is also coming to the end of its life and may be retired real soon.
The decoder cost me 69 pounds and provides me with what I need. If it goes tomorrow Im happy with what I have got for my money and start the search all over again.

Apologies, I realised that what I said does not make sense
So I would connect in incoming feed from the satellite to the Icecrypt box and from there to the TV. I think I was getting confused with the satellite control panel that selects the various satellites. David

Stewartwebr, many thanks for all your info and help. We've not long since had an Oyster dish fitted to the van, its an Oyster 3 with twin LNB and Autoskew, looking on the Jackson site we noticed he has said that this model has already been setup for Intelsat 907, so OH is going to have another look at the van system. The dealer who fitted it is maybe not be aware of this and only showed him how to tune it to Astra 2 etc.
When OH tried out the Icecrypt box before, he was using our 85cm free standing dish. Will check it out again using the van system hopefully tomorrow, we are flying off for 3 weeks holidays on Thursday so might not get round to it. I will come back to this thread though and let you know how we got on.

You are correct. The Oyster Vision 3 already has Intelsat in is memory and is very easy to set. You only need to do the following, but this will change Intelsat 907 to your default setting replacing Astra 2. All you need to do is do the same again but select Astra 2 to restore to default.
Press LH Button to raise dish
Press tick button
Main menu should be displayed on screen
Press tick button
Settings should be on screen
Use right arrow to scroll to Sat Settings
Press tick button
Search Satellite should be on screen
Press tick button
Should say Astra 2
Use left or right arrow to scroll through list of satellites until you find 907
Press tick button
System now searches for 907 as default
Press left button (raise dish)
Main menu should be displayed on screen
Scroll to autosearch
Press tick button
Screen will flash between autosearch and Intelsat 907
Make cup of tea and watch BBC in Spain
To restore Astra 2 as default repeat above but search for Astra 2

I haven't been allowed to 'play' with OH's new toy yet, think I'll be on the 'making cup of tea' duty. Didn't get the chance to try it out today busy with other things, oh well tomorrows another day, must try harder. ps I've saved the above.

Tried it all out today and hey it works
took some time to get everything loaded, some of it we had a few problems with but in the end we got there.Big thanks to Stewarwebr for his help.
This is the section we struggled with
Finding channels on Intelsat 907
Connect the IceCrypt to an Antenna pointed at Intelsat 907 at 27.5 deg W, and ensure that the Quality is at least 60% (a figure of over 75% is what you should be aiming for)
On the Menu go to Installation > Satellite Installation, press OK
Select the TP Index, then press the Yellow button (TP Edit), on the next screen press the Green button (Add), and enter the following parameters:Intelsat 907 at 27.5° West
Transponder 74
11.495 Vertical
SR: 44100
FEC: 9/10
DVB-S2/MPEG2/MPEG4
Modulation: QPSK
Encryption: BISS
Sptbeam: Spot 2 (Europe)The Transponder, FEC:, DVB, Modulation, Encryption and Sptbeam didn't show on the menu we got, once we had pressed the green button. OH did put in the Vertical and SR and managed to get it to save. We have no idea what FEC etc. mean, but it works. Will give it another go when we get back from holiday to make sure it has saved everything.
