Motorhome pitching

Now we are members of a new club will the regulations on pitching be changed to allow motorhomes to pitch with rear quarter next to the post? Generally we do have awnings but not an additional vehicle.

You can park rear end to the post or cab end to the post as long as your vehicle is to the right of it (on majority of sites) that has been the way for many years now.

We tend to park which ever is the most private/quiet either that or as we are nose down with our m/h if only staying for 1 night we park against the slope so we don't have to use ramps.

If in doubt ask the wardens they are the best to give guidance.

    Hi

Until further notice it will still be rear offside or front nearside to the pitch marker.

Adequate fire spacing of 6 meters between walls of vans and 3 meters between peripherals has always been a requirement on club sites for obvious reasons. A rebranding from the club doesn't change that at all.

I have unfortunately experienced in the UK and abroad outfits that have caught fire. Not something I wish to see on a site I run sorry and something I will never be complacent on.

Seen a van on fire once and I was shocked how fast it spread.

Fortunately the owner got the gas bottle out. An exploding gas cylinder would take out units a lot further than 6 metres away.

An exploding gas cylinder would take out the site but fortunately they are strong enough to survive as the fire dies out fairly quickly on caravans and motorhomes . They just disappear in minutes.m

The most important thing is that the recommended minimum fire breaks are at least maintained. Any pitching which increases the fire break and thus reduces speed of potential fire sread is a bonus. Anything which increases speed of possible spread is plain silly for you and your neighbours!

If you think the CAMC pitches are cramped try a C&CC pitch. The pitches and spacings are significantly smaller on most C&CC sites.

For an idea of the C&CC pitches, think Cirenceste Park, Bladon Chains, or Moreton in Marsh......gives you an idea of the sort of narrow pitches involved.

6 metre rule applies in the C&CC just the same except at Braithwaite Fold where local rules apply. That site was a CC site previously and the smaller gap between units applied then as well.

Because of the narrow pitches at Braithwaite when it was run by CC tow cars had to be parked in front of the caravans. I presume that it is the same now?

Yes they park them not only across the front of caravan but along the road as well making it very narrow to drive around.

We stayed at Moreton in Marsh a few  years ago .... I've yet to find pitches any smaller. I doubt very much if I'd get my current outfit pitched on our previous pitch

The pitches in the dead end piece abutting the road are very tight

To the best of my knowledge, the caravan pitch spacing is not smaller on C&CC sites. They conform to the 6 metre rule like CC sites. Is this not a requirement for all camp sites in order to comply with fire regs?

Yes the hardstanding bit might be a different narrower shape on some pitches but the spacing between pitches is 6m on all the sites I have stayed at.

How is it that the 6 metre rule doesn't apply to motorhomes overnighting on motorway service areas?  Or at festivals?

Just back from Morris Leisure-Betws y Coed. Harr standing pitches with marker board in one corner. You pitch forward or backwards to post. No confusion as to which side etc.  Awnings and towcar if  applicable still on hardstanding. Spacings maintained and an easy solution. Would this be too easy a solution for CC. Fantastic site and amenities makes CC look third world.

Don't know the question? As far as nightly costs are. We paid under £17 per night, van & 2 adults. ( 3 for 2offer). Better value than or usual Lady Margaret with very dated amenities.

This site has been there a long time. All the signage is the old CC signs. No idea about prices when I don't use sites I only deal with what I actually do. All the non CC sites we use seem to have much better facilities but still at similar prices when we use them.
