    Thank you again for all your best wishes and positivity. He is trying really hard, his right arm is still useless but he can walk a bit. His speech needs a lot of work; all he can say at the moment (with confidence) is 'yerp' /'no' but I can see him desperately trying to string a sentence together. The one thing I am sure that will speed his recovery is when he sees me get behind the wheel of his beloved Discovery and tow the van 😱

    Just an up-date; lovely boy was allowed to come home last night as there was no medical reason to keep him in hospital. Therapeutic work will continue at home by visiting OTs and me. This is the beginning I know but I am feeling so much more relaxed about everything now. It would seem he may have been pre-disposed to a stroke. His Paternal grandfather suffered one at 52, 55 and 59 (fatal). We know what to watch out for now and my future feels so much rosier.

    Stubborn ! That could be a good thing in his position, let's hope he's stubborn enough NOT to lie back and not be bothered , but to get back in the driving seat

    So sorry to hear of this. A colleague of mine suffered a stroke whilst in his 40s. This affected his left side and he had to learn to walk again. His communication skills were also affected but this was more to do with his working vocabulary. He would find it difficult to find the right words and often his his choice was wrong. The great thing was he had determination and saw the amusing side to this 'ability'. It took time but eventually he returned to work and continued to be a valued member of our management team.

    Time and determination are great healers.
