Mud Flap Flap Flap
Stayed at York Rowntree last weekend and it wasn't the George Best of weather but my word did those mud flaps bang during the night!
Anyone else noticed this on their MH and do they have a suggestion to silence the blighters?

Drill a hole in the bottom edge of the mud flap.
Thread a piece of cord through the hole and tie a knot at the back that is too large to pass through the hole.
With the cord pull the mud flap forward as far as possible, against the tyre, if it will go that far.
Pass the free end of the cord through the wheel spokes and tie off.
Alternatively use a suitable length of light chain with suitable hooks at both ends and attach to an alternative anchor point.
Do not forget to release before driving off.
Another way is the pull the mud flaps backward and anchor to some other part of the vehicle. As long as the mud flap are kept under sufficient tension all will be silent. the advantage of this method is that if you forget to undo them the flaps should come to no harm.

Had exactly the same problem at Keswick this weekend. Drove me mad so at 1.30am had to get dressed and go out with a torch to investigate what the noise was.......
Temporarily cured it for the night by wedging a plastic step against one mudflap and a waste bucket against the other....
Back at home, yesterday, I have drilled a small hole in the mudflap and a corresponding hole in the inner plastic lip of the wheelarch. I then locked the mudflap to the wheelarch using a clear translucent cable tie and the "modification" is invisible. The mudflap hangs neatly still in the vertical position.....

Never had that problem with Mud-flaps, must be
the lack of cleaning & thus the increased bulk
not allowing that amount of movement
?But Did have a noise problem with the reinforced
rubber strap between cab roof and the front panel
on my E/R Trooper. strong over-night wind started
it vibrating & thus amplifying the noise on the two
metal panels ! Had to drop the roof to avoid the
neighbours complaining

Not suffered the mudflap noise so far, however we were driven mad with the drip drip of rain dropping off the rain strip above the habitation door and falling on the plastic trim around the van. Never had this before, must have just been the angle we were parked. Have had it dripping off the roof and plopping on the sticky out bit at the back of the van, right by my head, I have to get up and put a sponge or cloth to stop it OH sleeps through anything short of a hurricane.

Had a similar problem with 1 of out mud flaps. Knocking against a pipe when the wind was blowing at a certain angle against the van. Drilled two holes in the flap and used a cable tie to pull it against the pipe it used to knock against. Peace and quiet ever since.
