Just returned from a weekend at Meathop Fell. All of the pitches have had fresh gravel put on them. But a problems that I found was that it was too thick/not compacted which meant that the jockey wheel just dug-in whilst moving the van about. Not a great problem for me as I carry a length of wood that I can put under the wheel, but could be a problem for some folks.

We did mention it to the warden when leaving and he was going to look at the pitch that we were on (44) and perhaps reduce the thickness.

We were there 2 weeks back and had to help push a caravan onto its pitch as the gravel was so thick the mover could not push it against the gravel. The mover on our t/a started to spin the wheels which began to create depressions in the gravel. I agree the gravel is far too deep. Otherwise an excellent site kept in immaculate condition by the wardens.
