Utility Tents on Non Awning Pitches

We recently picked up our first motorhome.  We know you're not allowed to extend a canopy or erect any kind of awning/tent when pitching on a non awning pitch with a caravan.  But we're not sure about the rules when in a motorhome. 

If you only have the motorhome are you allowed to erect a utility tent and/or extend the sun canopy over the area where a tow car would normally stand when on site?
