does anyone care? - I have been known to use them before.

Seems that they no longer shock or cause outrage, except on certain chat sites.

    Four-letter words?  Such as

    Work

    Life

    Love

    Dead

I understand that he was a footballist many years ago. Not done anything notable for many years though......if he ever did do anything notable.

As he seems to think he has to ask for the sir, it actually is conferred!

    He didn't represent GB!

He has done a lot of charity work as well, his last 5 month contract in France with PSG he donated all his salary to local charities. he is also a founder od charity Malaria no more and has also supported Unicef since his Manchester United days so possibly thinks he should be Knighted as much for his charitable work as his football career.

Well, if just some of the newspaper stories are true, he isn't quite the angel that he makes himself out to be.......question marks about his tax arrangements, using his charity to pay his expenses, unreasonable demands when agreeing to public appearances.

Yes, he does appear to do a certain amount of charity work.......if making an appearance somewhere is considered to be work. But it would seem that much of this has been in order to try to get himself a knighthood.

The sooner such meaningless gongs are done away with, the better.

I think it's a particularly British thing Mfrown not to focus on the positive just the negative. It may make folk think less of their own shortcomings perhaps. I wonder what is is about the multi millionaire successful ex footballer & businessman David Beckham that upsets some folk so muchlaughing

It's always been the same in u k praise and put them up there , then have great fun knocking them down again,

read so many different reports / stories by press about these tampered with emails difficult to know what to believe , celebrity's like the Beckhams are always targeted by someone and so many untruths told , some reporter seems to always know more than another and they always have some inside infirmation ,

The Beckhams are keeping a dignified silence , sealed and letting police and lawyers handle it , good on him

Yes it has always been the same......make yourself a mint from an insubstantial activity (footballing, being considered fashionable, being a 'celebrity'.......whatever) but then try to attach yourself to a charitable cause in order to get yourself a gong.

Added bonus......it helps the tax situation and is a good means of covering a lot of your daily living expenses - just put it all down to "charitable work".

But such people will always have their slavish supporters......so that's fine.

Incidentally, if the Beckhams are keeping a 'dignified silence' it must either be because they are out of the country for the required number of days to avoid paying UK tax.......or perhaps because neither of them has ever said anything of interest in their lives.

Nothing has been proven yet, as to the contents of the emails being true or false , so why is it  nessasery for him/ them to speak out and admit or deny unproven accusations , as for not having anything interesting to say , well maybe so, but if you have no interests in someone else's life or pastime ( charity work ) that's your choice.

As previously explained......his life and pastime are not 'about charity work'......the charity work is just a tax saving measure, a means of off-setting life's expenses and an attempt at being given a gong.

No different to many other 'celebraties'.

At least David Beckham is famous for something. -- Taking an important penalty kick for England in Euro 2004 which missed the goal completely by yards. surprised.  Oh yes, there was the deliberate foul on Diago Simone, an Argentine  player for which Beckham was sent off in disgrace surprised.  As a Footballist he was worse than useless.

Don't know or care about his finances or private life. I leave that to the Celebrity fanatics.

Behaving like a spoiled kid does nothing for his image.

    Cheers.........................K

I think it's about time someone had a stern word with these celebrities who give up hours of their time and raise many thousands of pounds for charities and other good causes. It's just appalling.

Hang on, I think I know just the chap to do it!! (Laughing smiley!)

He should join CT then - he'd be in good company with certain posters on here! ( Laughing smiley).

(Maybe ought to explain that was a joke before anyone gets all angsty!)
